Body Scrubs

Body Scrubs are wonderful allover exfoliating treatments. They slough off dry skin and leave your skin feeling smooth and silky.  Always use a gentle touch to avoid irritating delicate skin and avoid using body scrubs on sensitive skin and genitals.

Body Scrub for Dry, Flaky Skin

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup finely ground cornmeal
  • 1/4 cup ground rolled oats
  • 1/4 cup ground almonds
  • 1 Tablespoon almond oil
  • 10 drops lavender essential oil
  • 5 drops sandalwood essential oil

 

Directions

  • Mix ingredients in a non-breakable container.
  • Wet your body in a warm shower and apply the scrub to your legs, arms, and torso. Gently massage into your skin using a circular motion.
  • Rinse well and pat your skin dry.
  • Caution: Use a rubber mat to prevent falls.

 

Scrub for Sensitive Skin

This soothing scrub gently polishes, exfoliates, and moisturizes the skin.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup whole milk plain yogurt
  • 1/4 cup finely ground rolled oats
  • 1/4 cup wheat bran
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon almond oil
  • 5 drops lavender essential oil

Directions

  • Mix yogurt, oats, and wheat bran in a non-breakable container.
  • Mix honey, almond oil, and lavender oil and thoroughly combine that mixture with the yogurt mixture.
  • Wet your body in a warm shower and apply the scrub to your legs, arms, and torso. Gently massage into your skin using a circular motion.
  • Rinse well and pat your skin dry.
  • Caution: Use a rubber mat to prevent falls.

 

Strawberry Exfoliating Body Scrub

Strawberry-exfoliating-body-scrubFresh strawberries make a fragrant body scrub that is refreshing and gently exfoliates the skin.  Yogurt and honey provide moisture while bran polishes the skin.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup whole milk plain yogurt
  • 1/2 cup fresh strawberries
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1/2 cup wheat bran

Directions

  • Blend yogurt, strawberries and hone in a blender until smooth. Stir in the bran.
  • Wet your body in a warm shower and apply the scrub to your legs, arms, and torso. Gently massage into your skin using a circular motion.
  • Rinse well and pat your skin dry.
  • Caution: Use a rubber mat to prevent falls.

 Avocado Moisturizing Body Scrub

Avocado-moisturizing-body-scrubRipe avocados make a rich body scrub for moisturizing dry and/or sensitive skin. Cucumber soothes and cools irritated skin and almond is a gentle exfoliant.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup mashed, ripe avocado
  • 1/2 cup cucumber
  • 1/4 cup almonds

 

Directions

  • Puree the avocado and cucumber until smooth.
  • Grind the almonds into a coarse meal in a blender and combine with the avocado and cucumber puree.
  • Wet your body in a warm shower and apply the scrub to your legs, arms, and torso. Gently massage into your skin using a circular motion.
  • Rinse well and pat your skin dry.
  • Caution: Use a rubber mat to prevent falls.

 

Sea Salt Body Polishing Scrub

Sea-salt-body-polishing-scrub-1024x682For a simple body soothing scrub, mix half a cup of sea salt with 2 tablespoons of  almond oil. Take a quick warm shower to dampen your skin. Standing in the bathtub, gently massage the mixture onto your skin, avoiding your face and genitals.  Rub in a circular motion until your skin is rosy from the increased circulation. Rinse your body well with warm water and towel dry. Caution: Do not use the scrub on sensitive or irritated skin. Use a rubber tub mat to prevent falls.

 

 

 

 

Invigorating Body Scrub

Peppermint, rosemary and lavender essential oils make an invigorating body scrub that leaves your skin tingling and refreshed.  Almond oil is a mild exfoliant.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup sea salt
  • 2 drops peppermint essential oil
  • 2 drops rosemary essential oil
  • 5 drops lavender essential oil
  • 2 tablespoons almond oil

Directions

  • Add the almond oil and the essential oils to the sea salt in a small plastic container and mix well.
  • Dampen your skin in a warm shower and gently massage the mixture onto your skin avoiding your face and genitals.
  • Rinse your body well with warm water and towel yourself dry.
  • Caution: Do not use the scrub on delicate or broken skin. Use a rubber tub mat to prevent falls.
