Homemade Taco Seasoning

Tacos are pretty popular around our house.  Tacos are quick and easy to make and can be customized based on your individual likes.  Tacos are a fun meal for everyone.  I serve them with shredded lettuce, chopped tomatoes, green onions, salsa, sour cream and guacamole.

Some prefer the hard tacos, but I like the flour tortillas.  Either way, tacos are perfect for a quick week-day meal.

I have been buying taco mix for years but I recently found this recipe and decided to try it.  I have all these ingredients on my pantry shelf and find that making my own taco seasoning is easy and less expensive than buying the ready made version in the store.  I add a bit of cayenne pepper because I like my taco seasoning is a bit spicy.

  • 1/3 cups chili powder
  • 3 tablespoons onion powder
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons cumin
  • 1 tablespoons  garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoons paprika
  • 1 tablespoons salt

  • Mix all ingredient together with a spoon and pour into a jar.

For Tacos:

  • Mix: 3 tablespoons of Homemade Taco Seasoning Mix with 2 tablespoons corn starch, & 3 tablespoons water to 1 lb. of ground beef.
