Texas BBQ Sauce

Traditional Texas BBQ Sauce is a sweet and spicy mixture of tomato, vegetables, and spices. This Texas BBQ Sauce is a traditional BBQ sauce compared  to some of the more popular sauces of today.  A home-made Texas BBQ sauce takes a few minutes to make but is worth the effort.

This Texas BBQ Sauce recipe is great to use when you are grilling chicken or ribs.  You can use it to make pulled pork or as a spread on a sandwich as well.  It stores well in the refrigerator in an air-tight container.


  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup minced onion
  • 3 stocks celery, chopped
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 beef bullion cube
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1/2 cup cider vinegar
  • 3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons spicy mustard
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 2 teaspoons chili powder
  • salt and pepper to taste


  • Melt butter in a medium sauce pan.
  • Add garlic, onion, and celery.
  • Saute until lightly browned.
  • Add water and bullion cube.
  • Stir until bullion is dissolved.
  • Add remaining ingredients, stir and simmer for about 15 minutes.
